For Canadian anglers, the 6-inch tube has long
been a go-to for reeling in big lake trout, whether you're jigging in the summer
or ice fishing in the winter. Its consistent success has made it an all-season
favorite.
Now, we're taking it up a notch. You Lake Superior,
Lake Michigan and Lake Huron anglers asked, and
we delivered: we've introduced a new, thicker 6-inch ribbed version of
our classic smooth tube mold. This isn't just about a new texture; it's about
unlocking a world of two-tone possibilities for your big tubes! Now go
jig up those monster 40 inch plus lake trout.
Two-Toning Your Tubes: A Simple Two-Step Process
Creating your custom two-tone tubes is easier
than you think:

Inject your core color: Using the 6-inch
Laker Smooth Tube Mold (item 63-1274), inject your desired "core" color. This will
form the inner body and tails of your tube.

Add the outer color: After removing
the tip from your freshly molded tube, insert the rod with the tube into the
6-inch Ribbed Tube Mold (item 63-1275). Now, inject your second, "outer"
color.
If using the 6" Smooth Tube Mold (item 63-1133) you will need to remove
approximately 1/8 inch off the tip of the core tube before placing it in the
6 inch Ribbed Tube Mold. This allows the plastic to flow freely
and fill the ribbed cavity perfectly. This is only necessary if using the
6" Smooth Tube Mold -- item 63-1133. No need to trim the tip of the
bait if using the Laker Smooth Tube Mold (item 63-1274) .

Jig Head Recommendation
for Jigging Large Tubes
For Jiggng,
we suggest rigging them with a 1.5 or 2 oz Spearhead
Jig with a 6/0
or 7/0, 90-degree hook. The Spearhead is a heavy jig and designed with a center
balance, which not only helps the tube sink fast but also gives the tube that
irresistible action that catches a lot of big lake trout.
Recommendation
for Trolling Large Tubes
For trolling, use
an In-Line trolling sinker
between 1.5 and 2.5 oz. with a bead chain attached to the front and a crane
swivel to the back end. Attach a treble hook to the swivel with a split ring.
Insert the in-line sinker into the tube, pushing the bead chain through the tip
of your tube and your are rigged ready for trolling.
Every Injection Smooth Tube mold includes one aluminum rod
insert per cavity. Extra rods are available below.

trout tubes.
EXTRA ALUMINUM ROD INSERTS
Extra
Aluminum Rods are available for increased higher volume production.
The
aluminum rod makes the tube bait hollow. The rod can be trimmed to enlarge the
thickness of the nose. A thick head (shorter rod) is great for making t-rig
tubes and Ned tubes.
