FOOTBALL JIG The
Football jig is a favorite bottom fishing and probing tool. The wide shape of
this head style prevents the lure from tipping to the side. It can be dragged
along the bottom and the hook always remains upright. Line pressure will cause
the jig to stand up, poised for a strike. Its broad face helps transmit signals
up the line about changes in bottom features. Originally popularized as a useful
bass fishing tool, walleye fishermen have also discovered the advantages of the
football head. The smaller sizes dressed with craw type plastics are great for
trout.
Use an
Eagle Claw 574 jig hook when an extra long hook shank is required.
Otherwise, use the Eagle Claw 570 jig
hook.
